Filing Aircraft Noise Complaints

There may be times when it appears that aircraft are not following the SCAS's noise abatement procedures and the community wants to find out why. There are three ways to gain more information about an annoying aircraft event.

First, go to our Noise Alerts web page to see if there are any activities at the airport or in the airspace that have the potential to disrupt the normal pattern of operations at the airport. Airport construction, maintenance of navigation aids, and/or seasonal changes in airport activity may affect aircraft in flight. When we know about these changes in advance, we will use this web page to inform the public of them.

Second, make a note of the date and time of the event and go to the SCAS's aircraft flight track replay site, which is located at www.sacramentotracks.com . Select the date, time, and your community's location. Replay the flight track and observe what's going on. If the date and time of your event isn't available when you first begin, wait a few hours and try again. Flight track data is uploaded to the flight track replay web site three times a day.

Third, if you are unable to determine what happened by following the first two steps above or simply want to file a noise complaint, you may email your complaint to planenoiseinfo@saccounty.net or call the SCAS aircraft noise report line at (916) 874-0800. Be sure to leave the date and time of the event and any other details about the event. Your complaint will be entered into the SCAS aircraft noise complaint database. The complaints are summarized on a monthly basis and provided to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. The most recent noise complaint report to the Board is available by clicking below:

If you need a call back, please indicate so when leaving your complaint and be sure to provide a daytime phone number that you can be reached at. SCAS Airport Noise Office staff will call you back as soon as they can based on the current volume of calls at that time and other activities in the Noise Office.
