Aircraft Flight Track Replay
Since 1996, the SCAS has maintained an Aircraft Noise and Operations Monitoring System (ANOMS) that records the flight tracks of transponder-equipped aircraft operating at the County owned airports. The flight track data has proven helpful to the SCAS in responding to aircraft noise complaints, refining aircraft noise abatement procedures, and conducting noise-related analyses.
In the summer of 2003, the SCAS established a web site to allow interested parties to review the flight track data over the internet. The web site www.sacramentotracks.com is easy to use and allows the community to replay the flight tracks of aircraft operations that may have annoyed them. In many cases, the web site provides immediate answers to community questions. Therefore, the SCAS encourages residents concerned about a particularly aircraft overflight to go to www.sacramentotracks.com prior to calling the aircraft noise report line.
